Nancy Ross

BUNCH, OK- Funeral services for Nancy “Granny” Augerhole-Ross will be held on Monday, February 10th, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the New Baptist Church of Greasy, OK. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9th, 2014 from 12:00 Noon until 5:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will take place at Rock Fence Cemetery in the Greasy Community. Pallbearers for Nancy include Jody Vann, Roger Vann, Johnny Vann, Blake Hawkins, Melvin Mink, and Authur “Red” Ross. Flower girls for Nancy include Nadine Shell, Lizzie Duvall, Mary Hawkins, Amy Hawkins, Rita Mink, Glenda Mink and Roxana Wilden.

Nancy Augerhole Ross was born on May 17th, 1932 in Adair County, OK the daughter of Eli and Eliza (Vann) Augerhole. She joined a family of three sisters and two brothers, and attended Old South Greasy School as a young girl. She married the love of her life, John Ross Sr. on February 14th, 1955 in Tahlequah, OK. This union was blessed with love that lasted until John’s passing in 1989, and 8 children. Nancy worked the cotton fields of Texas alongside John, and often accompanied him working at various ranches. She was a hard working woman that worked long hours and devoted herself to her loving family. She was a gifted seamstress and made beautiful quilts. She always had the door to her home open for family, friends, and the stranger on the road. She would tempt you with one of her chicken and dumpling dinners, or perhaps one of her cornmeal dumplings, and offer you the best piece of pie you ever ate. This would all be served with love. Nancy was an outgoing and charming lady that never met a stranger. She was blessed with a great sense of humor and she often teased and joked with anyone around her. Her most precious gift was that of her children and her grandchildren. She absolutely adored them. There was always time to take in a sporting event or something special that involved her grandbabies. A Christian by faith, Nancy was a member of New Baptist Church of Greasy, OK. The Lord saw Nancy’s work was done, and He called her to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 6th, 2014 at her home at Ross Mountain. Nancy was 81 years old. She will be missed by her many family and friends.

Nancy has gone home to join her parents, her husband, John, two little daughters, Eliza Ross and Jannae Ross, two brothers, Charley Augerhole and Mose Augerhole, and two sisters, Jackline Beaver and Mary Denny, one granddaughter, Carrie Miller.

Those left to cherish her memory include her six children, John Ross Jr. and wife Julie of Ft. Gibson, OK, Emma Holland and husband Mike of Claremore, OK, Sally Hawkins and husband Blake of Stilwell, OK, David Ross of Bunch, OK, Charley Ross of Bunch, OK, and Mae Miller of Bunch, OK. She leaves one sister, Susie Dick of Bunch, OK. Her legacy lives on in her 11 adored grandchildren, Anthony Ross and wife Angela, Adam Ross and wife Crystal, Rikki Ross, John Ross III or “Trey”, Susan Jane Ross, Jonathan Kane Holland, Robert Hawkins, Amy Hawkins, Mary Hawkins, Tiffany Renee Ross, and Eric Drew Miller. The light of her life great grandchildren include Isaiah Ross, Stormy Ross, Trinity Ross, Hannah Ross, Hunter Ross, Brooke Holland, Tyger Holland, Jacob Grimmett, Audrey Grimmett, Kolby Grimmett, Raquel Hawkins, Kimmie Hawkins, Abbegail Hawkins, Madison and Abbegail, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
