Michael Eugene Powers

Funeral Services for Michael Eugene Powers age 59, of Tahlequah, will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Reed Culver Chapel in Tahlequah, OK. Interment will follow at Proctor Cemetery, in Proctor, OK. Pallbearers include Arnold Briggs, Paul Walkingstick, Joshua Shankle, Jacob Shankle, and Burt Smith. Honorary pallbearers include Dewitt Bell, George Murphy, Craig Alpough, and Jimmy Briggs. Viewing will be Monday, March 11, 2013 from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

Michael Eugene Powers, was born May 2, 1953 in Tahlequah, OK to Harvey and Hazel Victoria (Calico) Woodward. Michael was raised and lived in Tahlequah and more specifically the Pumpkin Hollow area his entire life. Michael provided for his family by working as a Diesel Mechanic. He met Cheryl Watkins in High School and they were married on June 1st 2003. Michael loved his family dearly and not a single day was better than one where he got to set and visit with them. He was a member of the Shirley Springs Holiness Church and truly loved God and enjoyed attending church as much as possible. Many times he could be found passing the time by playing the guitar, and singing. Michael was a very kind and loving man that enjoyed life to the fullest, and was always willing to help anyone. Those that knew him best, know he was an avid collector of animated Christmas toys, and a very loving husband, father, and friend.

Michael is preceded in death by his father Harvey Powers.

Those left to carry on his legacy include his mother Hazel, his wife Cheryl, two sons; Jacob Shankle and wife Leah, Joshua Shankle, one daughter; Angel Alpough, one brother; Paul Walkingstick, and a grandson; Daniel Shankle, as well as a host of other friends and loved ones.
