Tahlequah, OK – Funeral Services for Michael Nichols will be held on Monday, January 14th, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Reed-Culver Chapel in Tahlequah with Pastor Rodney Mattox officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13th, 2013 at Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel, the family will receive guests from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Interment will be held at Tahlequah City Cemetery.

Pall bearers for Michael include Robert Welch, John Vavra, Brett Curtsinger, and Derrick Green.

Michael Nichols began his life on April 15th, 1951 in Dallas, TX. He was born the only child of John Robert and Pauline (Steeley) Nichols. He attended college at NSU and obtained his Bachelors Degree in Social Studies Education. Michael loved soccer and especially coaching children in soccer, even his own kids. This tradition carried on for over 15 years. When Michael wasn’t working, he enjoyed traveling, going to the movies, and relaxing with friends at the casino. He was an avid football fan and never missed a chance to watch OSU and the Dallas Cowboys. The best day by far, was any day spent with his children and grandchildren. He was proud of their every accomplishment and loved them all dearly. Michael’s health began to fail him and he spent the past year in the company of his favorite people, his family. Michael passed from this life on January 8th, 2013 in Tulsa, OK. He was 61 years old. He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends alike.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson , Tylar Fertig.

Those left to remember Mike include his six children, Jason Nichols and wife Jennifer of Tahlequah, Robert Nichols of Tahlequah, OK, Michael Paul Nichols of Tahlequah, Cindy Luna of Tahlequah, Destin Nichols, and Kelli Nichols all of Tahlequah. Michael’s legacy lives on in his six grandchildren, Cara Nichols, Gemma Nichols, Brooke Curtsinger, Chance Luna, Aiden Luna, and Sadie Lamons, as well as many friends and a host of loved ones.
