Michael Wayne Greer was born on February 29th, 1976 in Tahlequah, OK, the son of Michael Edward Jones and Ellen Marie (Wolf) Greer. He attended school and then graduated from Stilwell High School in 1994. Like his many uncles and “Papa” that served in the U.S. military, he always possessed a deep love of his country and a willingness to serve. After he graduated high school, Michael joined the United States Marine Corp. He served his country from March 17th, 1997 until his honorable discharge on March 16th, 2001. While in the Marine Corp, he earned the Rifle Expert Badge three times, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 1 Star in 1999, Meritorious Mast, Certificate of Appreciation, and the Good Conduct Medal. He returned to the Stilwell area and began his family. He was the proud father of a daughter, Autumn Briann and a son, Wayne. He loved them deeply and was so proud of them. He was also a very fun cousin to hang out with, and an Uncle that knew how to have fun. He worked at Schwans Foods in Stilwell, and liked the people he worked with. He also Served as a Cherokee Nation Fire Dancer after high school. When he wasn’t working, he liked to go fishing with his kids or maybe a little deer hunting. He enjoyed cooking for his mom and delivering meals to her. Michael cooked a mean steak, chicken or rib dinner, and had even won a chili cook off with his mom’s recipe! He loved taking his kids on trips to Branson and around Christmas time, to the Dry Gulch Christmas Train. There was something special about time spent with his uncle John or his favorite cousin Kim. He was loyal, if he liked you, he was there for you regardless. He was neat and tidy, handsome and strong, kind and generous and most of all loving. He thought the world of his family and friends, more than he thought of himself. His time on earth was all too brief. Michael passed from this life on December 25 th , 2021 in Adair County, OK. He was 45 years old and will be greatly missed.
He has gone home to join his grandparents, Wayne and Mary (Baird) Wolf and George and Ella Jones, and one special uncle, John Baird.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Ellen “Marie” Greer of Tahlequah, OK, and his father, Michael Edward Jones of Plano, TX. He leaves his half brother and half sister, Clark Allen Christie of Bentonville, AR and Holly Dawn Christie of Coweta, OK.
