Eula Louise Rooks (Bolding), or Louise to her family and many friends, was born May 23rd, 1930 in Tahlequah, OK to William A. Bolding and Alice E. (White) Bolding. Louise attended Wolf Springs School in Cherokee County and grew up with her eight siblings, Geneva, Gene, Son, Willard, Lade, Wanda, Barbara and Don.
Louise married Ray Rooks in 1948 and together they raised five children, Darlene, Kenneth, Mitchell, Tony and Shenna. She enjoyed serving others during her many years in the dietary field and retired as lead cook for Taking Leaves Job Corp. Her mission was that others did not go without and held a soft spot for the “underdog” and mistreated with an open home and heart for those in need. She enjoyed spending her time with family and engaging her few guilty pleasures of Bingo on Thursdays and watching nightly episodes of Wheel of Fortune. She loved listening to gospel music and ministers preach the word of God each Sunday.
Louise passed peacefully from this life after attaining eighty-nine years of memories and leaving many imprints on our hearts. She will be greatly missed. Louise is preceded in death by her mother, Alice, father, William, sisters, Geneva Crow, Thelma “Lade” Foster, Wanda Bolding, brothers, Eugene “Gene” Bolding, William “Son” Bolding and Willard Bolding, her daughter Shenna Rooks, her great-granddaughter, Casey Coiner, great-grandson, Jaceton Kester and niece, Anita Taylor.
Louise leaves behind her brother, Don Bolding and sister, Barbara Howe of Tahlequah, OK, her daughter, Darlene Kester of Pryor, OK and her sons Kenneth Rooks, Mitchell Rooks, and Tony Rooks all of Tahlequah, OK.
She will live on forever through her remaining six grandchildren, Robin Coiner, Andrea Rooks, Jammie Kester, Brandon Rooks, Ryan Kester, Toni-Michelle Rooks and ten great-grandchildren, Nigel Turner, Kaley Coiner, Bailey Kester, Zachary Rooks, Shenna M. Rooks, Kaden Rooks, Cletha Rooks, Malisha Rooks, Jaxon Kester, Jansyn Kester as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Cherokee County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for taking such good care of our loved one.
