Funeral services for Helen Marie Ambrose-Riedel will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Prairie View Pentecostal Church of Hulbert with Rev. Jeff Enkey officiating. Then Ms. Helen will fly home to Creston, IA for her interment next to her Husband Richard Christian “Dick” Riedel.
Helen Marie Ambrose-Riedel was born on September 2nd, 1932 in Kent, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Myrtle (Barker) Ambrose. She graduated from Cromwell High School. She married Richard Riedel in Villesca, IA on October 14th, 1960 in Kent, Union County, IA. Helen was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was dedicated to helping her husband run the family farm and did whatever was asked of her, from driving the tractor to putting up hay. She was quiet, sweet, and very friendly. Helen trusted the Lord and was saved in September of 1969. The First Baptist Church of Creston is where Helen and her family attended church, her house was always open to their many friends, and Helen enjoyed having guests to dinner and playing cards afterwards. She often accompanied her husband to the local nursing home where Helen and Dick would play the organ and accordion for their guests. Keeping house for her family was very important to Helen, she planted large gardens and canned the produce for the coming winter months, at Christmas time, Helen worked long hours in the kitchen making holiday cookies and the best cherry pie. She was fond of her pet Guinea hens and had two very special pets. Summertime found Helen and Dick taking their family on vacations, touring the United States. Helen always brought back a special rock from every state the family visited that year.
