Phyllis Genelle Williams Harris was born on October 22nd, 1922 in Arkansas, the daughter of Ottis and Julie Williams. She grew up in a large family with seven brothers, Carl, Junior, Bill, Cecil, Gene, Jerry, and Vick. She attended school, then met the love of her life, Virgil Harris. They were married on February 25th, 1946 in Fayetteville, AR. Together they raised a son and a daughter, Nolan and Sandra, and enjoyed seventy one years of life’s adventures together. Genelle was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. An outdoorsman at heart, Genelle loved sports, from baseball and basketball, to reeling in the big one during a days fishing. She loved spoiling her family, she adored them. From her kitchen came delights such as her flaky crusts filled with apple or cherry filling. She was gifted with a needle and crocheted many projects. When she finally retired from all her activities, she discovered the joy of traveling! There was nothing better than to see new sites and meet new people. Genelle was the neighbor that never met a stranger. She was cheerful, easy going and had a way of making people feel at ease. She was an adoring grandmother, and she loved any chance she could find to spend time with Drew, Stephen and Phillip. When the great grandchildren came along, there were five more babies to cuddle and love. Genelle was a member of the Church of Christ and a Christian by faith. She worked tirelessly for her church and her church family. Her health began to fail her and the Lord called this good and faithful servant home from her labors on May 15th, 2017 in Tulsa, OK with her family by her side. She was 95 years old. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, her daughter Sandra Harris, her brothers, Carl, Junior, Bill, Cecil, and Gene, and her grandparents.
