Funeral services for Fred John Smart will be conducted on Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 at Reed-Culver Chapel with Bishop Chuck Wallace and Reverend Bob Snider officiating. Michael Kerr will deliver his eulogy. Visitation for Fred will be held on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Reed-Culver Chapel. Fred John Smart was born on August 4th, 1941 in Tulsa, OK, the son of Walter Arvil and Sammie “Lucille” Lucy (Kennedy) Smart. He graduated from Sapulpa, OK and began classes in Electronics Repair. Fred was a man of many talents, he was musical and played both the piano and organ. He loved photography and had a dark room for developing his own art, including using his 1947 Speed Graphic camera. He loved to hunt and fish and was a true marksman. It didn’t matter if it was a musket or the latest model, he could fire it and hit what he fired at. Fred loved vintage automobiles and loved to tinker under the hood to make them run. Nieces and nephews were often escorted to the stock car races with Uncle Fred, he loved to go. He liked the occasional night out at the casino or an afternoon playing Bingo. A Christian by faith, Fred attended the Pentecostal church. He had read the Bible from cover to cover 7 times and was in the process of writing out a version of the Bible on his computer. He possessed a happy go lucky personality and also maintained a stubborn streak, he knew what he wanted and when he wanted it. He adored his family and loved to spend time with them every chance he got. The Lord called this good and faithful servant home from his labors on Friday, July 7th, 2017 in Tulsa, OK with his loved ones by his side. He was 75 years old. He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends.
Fred is preceded in death by his mother, father, and his grandparents, John and Alice Smart and Fred and Lillie Mae Kennedy.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Alice Snider and husband Robert of Stilwell, OK and his nieces and nephews, Michael Kerr and wife Patricia of Chandler, OK, Tammy Tarpenning and husband Bob of Eufaula, OK, Alicia Snider of Branson, MO, Jeff Plummer of Branson, MO, Maria Franklin of Sapulpa, OK, Tammy Snider of Madison, WI, and Shawn Snider of Sand Springs, OK. He also leaves 14 great nieces and nephews, and one great great niece, as well as many cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
