David Manuel Barnhart was born on Sunday, December 19th, 1948 in Walseka, IL, the son of Raymond Heston and Lillie Elizabeth (Nottingham) Barnhart. He was raised with one brother, Raymond, affectionately called Jody and one sister, Mary Jane. He attended school in Tulsa and would later finish his schooling at Will Rogers in Tulsa. In 1969, he was enlisted into the US Army, serving in Battery B, where he attained his Architectural Drafting Degree in 1970 from Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. He was Honorably Discharged in March 2nd, 1971 and remained in the reserves until 1975. He then returned to the Tulsa area where he began his career working at McDonald-Douglas and Rockwell International and retired from Nordam as an aircraft painter. He was always ready to have a little time off, and spend his free time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He possessed a great deal of artistic talent, he played guitar, singing karaoke was favorite pastime, liked to draw, could take a piece of wood and turn it into a masterpiece, was a self taught carpenter, and performed drafting arts in the Army. He was happy with his family and friends, he liked shooting pool, throwing darts and getting together to share a story or two about the good ole days, running around with his cousins. He could curl up on the couch and play video games. There was this dry sense of humor that made you laugh, and then there was the stubborn streak, he was going to discuss and debate with you, until you saw his side of the story. He was most of all, a proud father of three children, Linda, David Colton and Bethany. There was nothing more special to David than his children and their accomplishments. He was their biggest fan. He was a Christian by faith and attended the Peggs Pentecostal, being baptized in 1991. His health began to fail him and the Lord called this gifted man home from his labors on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 in Tahlequah, OK. He was 70 years old and he will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his grandparents, David and Nancy Nottingham and Wiley Barnhart and Ethel (Cradduck) Barnhart, his sister, Mary Jane Goad and her husband Michael, their son, Michael Ray Goad, sister-in-law, Barbara Barnhart, and his first wife, Katherin Boatright-Allred, whom he married in 1968, and she preceded him in 2017.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Linda Edwards and Charles Miller of Broken Arrow, OK, Colton Barnhart and Amber Martin of Oklahoma City, OK, and Bethany Barnhart of Tahlequah, OK. He leaves his second wife, Charlene Lillard-Craig whom he married In 1975, and the mother of Colton and Bethany, Sherry Evon Rowe-Barnhart, whom he married in Miami, OK in 1987. There is one brother, Raymond “Jody” Joseph Barnhart of Locust Grove, OK. David lives on in his two grandchildren, Wesley Miller and Briar Edwards, both of Broken Arrow, OK, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones too numerous to mention.
