Carl Jennings Murphy was born on Tuesday, December 31st, 1929 in Apache, OK, the son of Pearl Mae Marie Murphy, and raised by his grandparents, William and Alva (Rogers) Murphy. He enlisted into the US Army at age 17 and was sent to Germany to serve for two years following World War II. He served with the 67th D Battery beginning in 1948 until his honorable discharge in October 19th, 1951. He met and married the love of his life and his best friend, Donna Rae Seba on April 5th, 1953 in Tribune, KS. Together they raised three sons and one daughter, and shared 65 years of memories and happiness. Carl was a hard working man who started with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) as a Maintenance Man and finished his career as a foreman. When he wasn’t working, you could find Carl playing a game of golf or square dancing with Donna, and belonged to both the Country Cousins and Spurs and Garters dancing clubs. Carl enjoyed time spent at his favorite fishing spot or doing a little hunting. There was nothing he loved more in life than his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was so proud of his children’s accomplishments and was one of their leaders in 4H. Holidays were always wonderful with all of them gathered close by. He was proud of his service to his country and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 7521 in Tribune. When he and Donna retired, he retired near the Cherokee Nation, and settled in Hulbert. Carl was proud of his Cherokee heritage. He loved his community and his many friends were considered family. They always knew the door was open and coffee pot was on. He was always happy to see his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were the best in his eyes. The Lord called this hard working man home from his labors on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 in Muskogee, OK with those he loved close by his side. He was 88 years old. He will be greatly missed.
