In 1982, what was supposed to be a short visit helping his brother’s move to Wagoner, OK. Bryan ended up loving Oklahoma and decided to stay. Not long after that, he met the love of his life, Carol Jean Wilson, or “Tootsie” as he always called her. At the time, he lied about his age, told her he was older, which she found many years later he was younger. From there, those two were inseparable. When they tied the knot, not only did he gain a wife, he also gained three children Tracey, Debbie, and Roy “Troy”. Even though in the beginning things were a little rocky, he treated and accepted the kids as his own and they accepted him as their dad. He even kept some of their secrets from mom. Bryan was always there for each of them.
The kids remember since they were little, him always in a rocking chair, if there was one around that would be the chair he was going to pick, even out at the lake. Later his mom told the girls his grandpa would always rock him, which explained a lot.
Bryan enjoyed attending church at Eden Mennonite church in Inola, OK, where he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He also enjoyed traveling with Jean to different states, and loved NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, hunting, taking Jean to flea markets, camping (yes he had a rocking lawn chair), riding motorcycles, tinkering with cars and motors, and his dog Tambi, who he loved playing ball with. Bryan hardly ever said no to Jean, always made sure she got what she wanted.
Bryan is preceded in death by his grandparents Alden and Sadie Kauffman and Elmer and Pearl Cramer, and granddaughter Casey Jean Marie Petty.
Bryan is survived by his wife of 38 years Carol Jean Kauffman of the home, his dad Dean Kauffman of Killgore, TX, his mom Janet Cramer Greer of Longview, TX, his children; Tracey Petty and husband Rick of Park Hill, OK, Debbie Rhea and husband Mike of Park Hill, OK, Roy Bergeron and spouse Marsha of Wagoner, OK, La Costal Kauffman Spickler of Yeagertown, PA, one brother, Brad Kauffman and spouse Laura of Longview, TX, one sister Kelly Gugliuzzi, of Longview, TX.
