Boyd Dee Smith was born on Sunday, June 16th, 1957 in Lost City, OK, the son of Columbus and Betty (Bean) Smith. There were plenty of brothers and sisters around to keep life interesting, Stanley, Rex, Cletus, Randy, Jackie, Cora, Clarissa, Joyce, Janell, and Dennia. He was an avid softball player when he was young, and never tired of sports. Later in life, he took up golfing, a game he thoroughly enjoyed. He met and married his soulmate, Tonya Hudson, he raised two sons, Skylar and Rance Smith. Boyd was never one to just sit around, he was constantly working on a project. He made his living working for NSU for 34 years as the Grounds Supervisor, a job he loved. He took great pride in keeping the grounds immaculate and at their very best. When he was at home, you could find Boyd in some sort of project. He enjoyed keeping his property well maintained and was always looking for the next item that needed mending. When he wasn’t working, he was likely to be found at his favorite fishing hole with one of his best friends, Dwight or better yet, spending time with his grandchildren Rence and Rainn. He loved to spend time with his family, and share a tale or two. He enjoyed a quiet afternoon at home, spending time with Tonya and relaxing at the house. Boyd passed all too soon from this life on November 23rd, 2018 at his home surrounded by those he loved. He was 61 years old. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his father Columbus, his beloved son, Rance, and one brother, Randy Smith.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife Tonya of the home. He leaves his son, Skylar Smith and wife Agata of Tahlequah, and two adored grandchildren, Rence and Rainn Smith. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, Stanley Smith of Tahlequah, Rex Smith and wife Marie of Tahlequah, Cletus Smith and wife Angie of Shady Grove, Jackie Smith and husband George of Lost City, Cora Smith of Tahlequah, Clarissa Wacoche and husband Ben of Tahlequah, Joyce Pigeon and husband Walter of Welling, Janell Smith of Tahlequah and Dennia Smith also of Tahlequah.
