Billy Joe Hoover

Billy Joe was born November 17, 1977 and on November 20, 2023, he left behind his worldly body, taking flight to his eternal fishing spot. Billy Joe is survived by his mother Karen Hoover, aunt Marianne Davis, daughter Kensey Jayde, son-in-law Reid, granddaughter Tinley Shea, daughter Kelsey Jewel, son-in-law Keaton, grandsons Peyton Ray and Kaysen Neil, son Kole Isaac, daughter Kaybre Leyana, wife Dana, brother Tracy Hoover, sister-in-law Shelly Hoover, nephews Devan, Skyler and Tristen, sister Sheila Friend, niece Myca Hummel, great nieces Lyric, Evarleigh and Harlow, nephew Simon Vickers and many cousins, family and beloved friends.

Billy Joe came into this world defying odds. He was a ten pound, breech, home birth and from the very beginning it was apparent that he was the absolute sweetest part of the family. Growing into a fiery young man brimming with curiosity, Billy Joe found solace and thrived amidst nature's embrace. He was rough and tumble and spent his unfair share of time wandering but he was never lost. Fishing was his sanctuary, his therapy. The peace, comfort and sheer joy that cleansed his heart on those tranquil pond banks was then so generously poured upon his Loves. And sometimes, he even brought home a fish.

Billy Joe had an insatiable need to break things down to learn how they worked and he would put them back together better than they were to begin with. He extended that gift to his people as well. Billy Joe had a way of opening up the most closed heart, soothing it as he learned how it worked and after taking the time to fully understand the mechanics, he would put it back together in the most special way. Billy Joe's own heart is how he will be remembered. His heart was the purest and even through his struggles in this life, his heart remained the one glowing constant. His heart was never more apparent than when he became a Daddy and by the time he so delightedly became a Grandpa our big, tough guy had long accepted that his heart was squishier than a flood-soaked pond bank and he thrived in his role of being a soft place to land for all of us he held so dear. And he did, y'all. That man loved us so fiercely, so tenderly and so generously.

Rest easy, big guy. Your legacy of boundless love will forever resonate within our spirits, and your memory will guide us for the rest of our days. You are loved and cherished beyond measure. This much.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11:00am at Reed-Culver Chapel with Brother Gary L. McElmurry officiating.
