Catherine Laurent Frantz-Brown

Catherine Laurent Frantz-Brown's five year battle with cancer ended peacefully at home where she was surrounded by her four children, Asia Pitts (Curtis), Lou Ivey (Shawn), Audrey Brown (Mohammad Zaccarya) and Amara Brown all of Albany NY, and her father, John M. Frantz Jr., of Sarasota FL. Catherine was like a second mother to both Vanderie Vielie of Brooklyn NY and Henry Flournory of New Orleans. Catherine 51 was born in Washington DC and was raised in Syracuse NY. She came to Albany in 1999 and she worked at the State Office for the Aging until her disability retirement in 2012. She is pre-deceased by her sister, "Annie" and her grandparents, John and Ellen Frantz of Silver Spring, MD and grandmother, Millie Buckley of Ballston Spa, NY and Dorothy Remine Frantz of Syracuse.

She is survived by her parents, John M. Frantz (Marya), Mary Lou Frantz (Dan Wooley) of Syracuse NY; brothers, John Frantz (Laura), Andrew Frantz (Erin); sister, Rachel; and several nieces and nephews. Catherine has four grandchildren, Sydney, Savannah, Curtis and Jamie all especially precious to her. Her legacy of caring and concern will be carried on by her girls for whom her love was unconditional. She is also survived by her Aunts, Jean Hodgins of Ballston Spa and Susan Sechler-Timberlake (Lloyd) of Ridge, MD to whom special thanks are given for their endless outpouring of love and support shown to Catherine and her girls during this long illness. Also her aunt, Susan Ficks (Phil) of Durham NC; cousin, Kate Smith (Dave) of Fayetteville NC; uncle, Bill Ivey (MaryBeth) of Texas; aunt, Dorothy Laurent of California,; Catherine had a host of lifelong friends who spent many hours helping her and her family through the years!

A memorial gathering is planned for Syracuse on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 4-7pm at Farone & Son Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse, NY 13208.

A Memorial in Albany/Schenectady will be scheduled at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Hospice of Schenectady.
