Fort Collins, CO (formerly of Sylvania and Savannah, Georgia) – James “ Jim” William Dudley, age 60, passed away on May 17, 2017 at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO. He was born March 10, 1957, at Fort Gordon, GA to John William & Iona Griner Dudley. He was a retired IT Professional, having worked for IBM and Gulfstream and was a member of Sylvania First United Methodist Church.
Jim graduated from Savannah High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Armstrong State University in Applied Mathematics and received his Masters Degree in History from Georgia Southern University. Music played an important part in his life; playing the guitar and singing in the church choir. Jim was an avid reader and book collector and was involved in Boy Scouts as a leader for 14 years. He was a member of the Fenian Society in Savannah and served on the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee for several years.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, His Father-in-Law, David I. Gurka and 2 Brothers-in-Law, Dennis Gurka and Patrick Owens.
Survivors include: His Wife of 23 years, Doreen Gurka Dudley of Fort Collins, Colorado, a Daughter and Son-in-Law, Catherine (Catie) and Casey Hill of Rockwall, Texas, 2 Sons, Charles (Chip) Dudley of Savannah, Georgia and Mark Dudley of Fort Collins, Colorado, A Brother and Sister-in-Law, John C. and Rivanna Dudley of North Las Vegas, Nevada, 2 Grandchildren, John Michael Dudley of Aiken, South Carolina and Evelyn (Evie) Blake Hill of Rockwall, Texas, 1 Aunt, 1 Uncle, 6 Nieces, A Number of Cousins, and his Mother-in-Law, Deanna Gurka of Sylvania, Georgia.
Funeral services for Mr. Dudley will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home, 107 Singleton Avenue, Sylvania, Georgia 30467, with the Rev. Ricky Varnell and his Son, Chip Dudley, his Brother John Dudley, and his Best Friend Chris Kobleur officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Steven Usher, Dick Beal, Whit Thompson, Jim Kobleur, Chris Kobleur, Ray Reynolds, Blanton Lee, Ed Ferris and Michael Reiser.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. in the chapel.
