Joy Thompson Limbaugh

Funeral services for Joy Thompson Limbaugh, age 89 of Childersburg, will be Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Childersburg First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Limbaugh and Rev. Mike Holland officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenhill Memorial Gardens.

Joy passed away November 10, 2021 at Grandview Medical Center.

She is survived by her sons, John Limbaugh (Tammy) and Nick Limbaugh (Robin); five grandchildren, Layne Limbaugh, Cole Limbaugh (Kaitlyn), Joe Limbaugh (Taylor), Bennett Limbaugh (Ann) and Graham Limbaugh (Emily); four great-grandchildren, Lydia Limbaugh, Ramsey Limbaugh, Collins Limbaugh, and Ella Kate Limbaugh; special niece, Lynn Limbaugh Lloyd. She is preceded in death by her husband, Shealey Limbaugh; infant son, Joe Wheeler Limbaugh; parents, John H. and Alva Garrett Thompson; siblings, Fanny Hinds, Nadine Pope, Billie Jean Whitlock, Johnny Thompson, Joe A. Thompson, and Ollie Limbaugh.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. For 40 years, she was a teacher at Childersburg and Coosa Valley Academy. Joy was a graduate of Vincent High School, Auburn University and received her Master’s degree from Montevallo. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Sorority, Childersburg First United Methodist Church and a book club as she was an avid reader. She loved her flowers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Childersburg First United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Cole Limbaugh, Layne Limbaugh, Joe Limbaugh, Bennett Limbaugh, Graham Limbaugh and Jeff Lloyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Limbaugh, Malley Limbaugh, Dan Limbaugh, John Fogarty, Dale Lloyd, Jim Pope, George Edwin Limbaugh, Billy Nelson Whitlock and Sonny Thompson.
