She was born in Sylacauga on July 31, 1952, to James and Sue Cochran and is survived by her husband of 48 years, Harry I. Brown, Jr, three children--Harry III (Kathleen), Cathy (Paul), and Adam (Vanessa)-and six amazing grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Sue Cochran, four brothers and their wives-Morris (Candy), David (Mary Alice), Joel (Rosemary), Tommy (Rebecca)-and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her husband Harry said Jamie was the most outstanding woman he ever had the pleasure of knowing. “She loved everyone, and everyone loved her. I wish I had as many friends as she has!” Jamie took pride in being the best wife and mother she could be as evidenced by her many years of marriage, her successful children and the young women she mentored.
Jamie’s mission in life was to be a loving wife and mother, an outstanding registered nurse and mentor to young girls. She received many honors for her 23 years as a Girl Scout leader, the last of which was a special reunion program in 2017, where women from all over the country returned to Sylacauga to honor her.
Jamie was a proud graduate of the Sylacauga High School Class of 1970 where she served as the first female student council president, and Carraway Hospital School of Nursing in 1973. Her last professional nursing assignment was at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City, Alabama, where she received numerous letters of appreciation from patients and their families.
