Gary Wayne Edwards

Sylacauga, AL. - Gary Wayne Edwards, age 62, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Gary is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anne Edwards; his children, Aubrey Bates (Jerry), Katie Shaw; his mother, Bernice Edwards; his sisters, Frieda Edwards, Melinda Edwards (Delbert); his grandchildren, Jayden Bates, Grayson Bates, Ellie Bates, Dexter Bates, Emmett Bates, Grady Shaw, Karson Shaw; a host of family & friends; and his beloved dog, Jack.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Edwards; his son, Lucas Edwards and his nephew, Jamie Cook.

He loved Alabama football, hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was his family.

A visitation for Gary will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Sanctuary, 46639 US-280, Sylacauga, AL 35150, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Freddie Edwards officiating.

Gary will be laid to rest in Shelvin Rock Cemetery, 1560 Shelvin Rock Rd, Sylacauga, AL 35151.

Serving as pallbearers are Jayden Bates, Grayson Bates, Grady Shaw, Tyran Taylor, Chantz McDaniel, Larry "Shep" Sheppard, Delbert Franklin, and Jose Ojedea. Honorary pallbearers will be Ellie Bates, Dexter Bates, Emmett Bates and Karson Shaw.
