It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. William ‘Bill’ Coffin passed away after a brief illness on Friday, September 16th, 2022 in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his family by his side.
Bill was born on October 20th, 1938 to John Raymond and Mary Hilda (McCullough) Coffin. He is survived by his wife Carmel (Peinsznski). They enjoyed 59 years together and have two sons, Michael and Robert and grandsons Nathan and Ryan of Sydney. Bill is also survived by his siblings Jack (Carmel); Mildred (Frank) Nugent and Bob (Cheryl), sister-in-law Martina Coffin, all of Sydney and brother-in-law Trevor Everill of Marion Bridge, brothers and sisters-in-law Frank and Rita Peinsznski, Paul and Linda Peinsznski, Casimer and Carmella Peinsznski, Margaret and Art Fennell, and Marlene and Dan Hessdorfer as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his daughter Carol Ann, siblings Carmen, Donald, Elaine Coffin and Donna Everill and father and mother-in-law Casimer and Alice Peinsznski.
Bill was employed with Canada Post for many years and retired to enjoy his many hobbies which included carpentry and travelling throughout Cape Breton and Newfoundland on his ATV. He was gifted with many creative talents and could turn his hand to anything when it came to automobiles, wood working, plumbing or electrical. He took on every challenge with success.
Visitation will take place at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 7 until 9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 22, at 11:00am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Inurnment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
