We the family of Thelma Yakimchuk are saddened to announce her passing in Cape Cod Massachusetts on December 24, 2019. Born in Whitney Pier, Thelma was the daughter of the late Bill and Katie (MacNeil) Blanchard. Thelma was a beautiful spirit who was always giving of herself to help others. She was a great support system for her family. Thelma’s life was based on love, kindness and faith.Thelma spent her career working at Archie Nathanson’s where her loving personality was felt by so many. Besides her enjoyment of her work and dedication to her job, she also held dear to her heart the lasting friendship she found in Herman and Barb Nathanson. After her retirement, Thelma found great joy in travelling with her loving husband Charles where they shared their time between Cape Cod and Florida. Through her travels, Thelma met many new friends and relationships that she cherished deeply. Thelma always found the enjoyment and the pleasures of life through remaining active walking, skating and dancing. Thelma is survived by her dedicated and loving husband Charles Yakimchuk, Step daughter Sook Hee (Bob) Gaughran and step Granddaughter Ashley. She is also survived by her sisters, Pearl Dawson, Mary Rose, Theresa (Billy) Vanchuck, Louise (Joe) Prestera as well as sister in laws Theresa Blanchard, Pat Blanchard and Kay Ongo as well as many nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her brothers; Bill, John , Joey, Eddie and Tommy as well as a brother in infancy. She is also predeceased by brothers in law; John Dawson, Murray Rose and sister in law Sharon Blanchard. A visitation will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on Tues. Jan. 14 from 4-6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Jan 15, 2020 at 10 am at Holy Redeemer Parish in Whitney Pier, with Father Paul Murphy presiding. Reception and Burial to follow service.
