It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Maureen Donovan, age 69, on Friday, October 21, 2016 at home.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years Amos; daughters, Carla (Brad) Layes, Sydney and Melanie (Justin), Eastern Passage; sister, Theresa (Harry) Morrison, Sydney; brothers, Howie (Carol), Sydney and Robert, Toronto; mother in law, Jessie Donovan; sisters in law, Anne Marie(Barry) MacDonald and Jeannie MacNeil; nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the joys of her life, her grandchildren, Liam, Scott, Rebecca and Lauren, who will miss their Nanny Reen.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents John “Shorts” and Pearl (MacAskill) Long; brother, John; father-in-law, Cecil; brother-in-law, Joe and granddaughter, Amanda in infancy.
Maureen and Amos loved spending time during the summer at the family cottage in Ingonish where they enjoyed special time with the family. She also loved the May 24th weekend where the Bowling Gang got together every year for 50 years.
She loved to have the neighbours in for morning tea, where there was always a large pot of tea on the stove and a plate of sweets on the table.
She will be remembered for her wonderful laugh, for her warmth and especially for her love for her family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25 at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Wednesday October 26 at St. Theresa’s Church, Fr Dennis Lamey will officiate.
