It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lucene MacIntyre, nee MacDonald, announces her passing on Monday, October 23, 2023. The daughter of Joe and Christina (Gillis) MacDonald, she was brought up in East Bay, which was always home to her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She graduated from the St. Rita Hospital School of Nursing in 1961 and was a nurse for 35 years. She was a true Cape Bretoner and loved everything about the Island. She is survived by her son, Francis (Michelle Erickson) MacIntyre, daughter, Carole MacIntyre; grandchildren, Jen and Hunter, whom she adored, as well as her grandfurbaby, Chloe; her sisters Marie Lorway, Joan (Gord) Sutherland, Rita (Larry) Bozohora; her brothers Jim (Judy) MacDonald and John MacDonald; her sister-in-law, Imelda MacDonald, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, Joe and Christina MacDonald, brothers, Michael MacDonald and Eddie MacDonald, sisters-in-law, Bev Verankas and Maureen MacDonald, brother-in-law, Charlie Lorway.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel at 2:00pm. The family would like to thank the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Team for her care in her final days. We would also like to thank the wonderful VON Nurses and Cape Breton County Homemakers staff who cared for and became friends with Mom over the last number of years.
