We the family regret, with sorrowing hearts to announce the passing of our husband, father, brother and uncle, John Henry ‘Jack’ Compton in the An Cala Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 28, 2018 in his 89th year. He was recuperating from an illness that befell him in 2013.
Jack was a respected person with high morals and devoted to his family and friends. He was a volunteer for more than fifty years in various community organizations. The cornerstone of his life was active participation in his church; St. Aiden’s. Westmount; St. Mark’s, Coxheath and Church of the Resurrection, Sydney where he and his wife of 58 years, Rose, gave their time in various duties. Jack was a Eucharistic Minister for more than fifteen years. He was the director of Cape Breton Attitudes Pageants for 19 years and enjoyed cutting the cake on July 1st with all the pageant participants at Peter’s Field Park.
He was the son of the late Fred and Annie Compton. Left to mourn his death is his wife Rose, daughter Rosanne (David Robertson); siblings Irene (Ian) Fleming, Dartmouth; Beverley (Sherman) Williams, Avonport and Helen MacLeod, a main stay in Jack’s time of illness.
