It is with a broken heart that we announce the unexpected passing on Saturday, Nov. 2nd of our beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Glen Gabriel Sylliboy. Glen was a gentle giant, with a quiet demeanor and a kind heart. In his younger days, he enjoyed boxing and later passed those skills onto the next generation becoming both a trainer and mentor to many. He worked as a contractor, carpenter in Eskasoni and his handiwork can be seen throughout the community in the many houses he helped build. He could do just about anything that he put his hand to. Glen also worked for several years in the fishing industry.
He will be deeply missed by his wife and love Philomena, mother Margaret Poulette, father Stephen John Sylliboy, children Autumn (Jeremy), Jacob (Danielle), Glenn, Duran (Emma), Aleigha (Layne) and Sammi; grandchildren Tyrin, Anna, Atalie, Sally, Maizey, Noah, Luke and Lenayah, his siblings Gwen (Lance), Stephen, Bernadine (Terrance), Quentin (Sherisse), Dustin (Renee) and Danielle Marie (Hayden) as well as his brother-in-law Michael Cremo, godparents Jermaine and Peter and godchildren Kendra, Tamara, Treven, Shayla, Angelina, Rydell and Arinna. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and his in laws, mother-in-law Madeline “Sugar” Poulette, sister-in-law Cindy, brother-in-law Terry, stepchildren Patsy Gould, Eliza Gould, Joel Kabatay, Tayvn Kabatay and Brayven Christmas.
Glen was predeceased by a brother in infancy Daniel, granddaughter Aaliyah and father-in-law Walter Poulette.
A wake will start at 7pm on Tuesday, November 12 at the Gabriel Centre in Eskasoni. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30am on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Holy Family Church, 50 Gebriel St., Eskasoni with interment following in the parish cemetery.
