It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother George Robert Marshall who passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, Oct. 4th. George was born on March 19, 1963 to the late Luis Peter Marshall and Susan (Denny) Marshall.
George was an extremely hard worker. He started his career working at NADACA a drug and alcohol rehab before moving on to work in law enforcement working for the Tribal Police, a dock monitor and also a fisherman for Eskasoni Fisheries. He also worked as a Parole and liaison officer with dorchester penitentiary, and the province of Nova Scotia. He also was well known within the Mi’kmaq community, providing help and support to community members in need in the legal system. George believed in strong families, strong community and a good education. There is nothing that he wouldn’t do for his family and especially his grandchildren, whom he adored, including taking them to Florida for an Easter holiday. George also loved going for drives anytime he got the opportunity. A Montreal Canadians ‘Habs’ fan, he was also a lover of music, his favorites being Elvis and the Beatles.
George is survived by his adoring wife Margaret, his 5 children Kateri, Lucia, Andrea, George and Jeniece, adoring grandchildren Kodan, Keondre, Sequoia, Roston, Harlynn, Cassius, Adelyn, Tien, Zeke, Adessa and Jairus. He also leaves behind his siblings Mary Catherine “Doose”, Mary Ann “Malian”, Anna, Charmaine, Peter, Charles “Jolly”, Fred, Henry and Mike, best friends Stephen John, Wilfred Gould and Sean Ryan Paul, adopted daughter Francella and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and godchildren Andrew, Bobbilee and Tekakwitha.
Besides his parents, George was also predeceased by his granddaughter Hailee, siblings Patrick and Joe and godchild Aaron.
Visitation will be held at the Gabriel Centre in Eskasoni starting on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 9th at 10:30am at Holy Family Church in Eskasoni with Fr. Antonlin Asor officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
