It is with sadness of heart that we announce the passing on November 14, 2024 of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ferne Elizabeth Hawley (nee Richardson). Born in Sydney to the late Leroy and Mary (MacDonald) Richardson.
Ferne used to own and operate a chip wagon and a video store (Hawk's Video).
For the last while, her life centered around her immediate family and her hobbies, including photography, baking, board games, cards and travelling, especially to her favourite place PEI. Each of these activities was made all the more special if she was able to enjoy them with her grandkids, who truly were her pride and joy. Ferne had a kind heart and was the kind of person who would go out of her way to do something nice, just so that she could see you smile.
Besides her parents, Ferne was predeceased by 3 of her siblings and her husband, Thomas Russell Young. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Ryan Gillis), son David, her grandchildren Julie and Radeck as well as 7 siblings, numerous nieces and nephews and a number of close friends.
