It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister Elizabeth (Leblanc) MacDougall on April 21, 2022 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on July 8, 1925 at Cap Rouge, Cape Breton, NS. Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Edward and Cecile (Camus) Leblanc. Elizabeth is survived by her children Wilfred David (Pearl), Michael, Allan, Glenda (Christian), Donald and Stephen. Elizabeth was the grandmother of five; Joseph (Debora), Cindy (Clayton), Kelly, Tate and Carly. She had seven great grandchildren; Steven, Alexander, Alyssa, Isaac, Aedan, Naomi, and Edward. She is also survived by her loving brother Harry (Gloria) and her caring sister and constant companion Edith. Besides her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Wilfred in 2016; sisters Mary Emma, Roseanna, Annie Rose, Hilda, Victoria, Evelin, Della and Dorothy; brothers Joseph, Angus, Neil, George, Wilfred, and Didace.
Our Mom worked within our home. She was tireless and was always there for us. Her strong will and faithfulness was an inspiration to everyone who met her. Mom‘s door was always open. She loved having company and was a master in the kitchen. Many people, family and friends shared meals at her table. Anyone who visited was fed, hungry or not and that was that. Mom genuinely loved to help people. She was always giving, never taking, and was a great friend.
She loved her sisters and brothers dearly and enjoyed every minute she spent with them. They loved traditional fiddle music and step-dancing, and there was always food and laughter. Growing up in a family of seventeen, music was a big part of Mom’s life. She spent many evenings with her sisters “The Golden Girls” enjoying music all around town. Their dear niece Linda Kennedy was always by their side, leading the good times.
In recent years, Mom along with her sister Edith, loved to frequent the mall for a walk, to meet friends old and new for conversation and tea at Tim’s. She loved meeting people and hearing stories about their lives. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Visitation for the late Elizabeth (Leblanc) MacDougall will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at T.W Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George Street, Sydney. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, 381 Whitney Avenue on Wednesday April 27 at 11am with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiating.
