88 – Sydney
Edna Frances MacLeod, 88 of Celtic Court, formerly of Union Street, died peacefully in her sleep on April 3, 2013 in her residence.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Gordon and Frances (Ferguson) Taylor.
She attended Sydney Academy and then went on to Boston where she attended Wilfred Academy and obtained her Beautician’s license; returned to Sydney and operated her own business successfully for a number of years on the Esplanade. Her devoted family and numerous friends all will miss her dearly; particularly at Bridge and 45’s card games in which she took part for over 60 years. Edna’s baking will be remembered just as fondly.
She is survived by her stepson Stuart (Nonie) MacLeod, Northside East Bay; daughters, Frances (Philip) Carswell, Gabarus Lake, Kinnon (Michael) Sutherland, Bedford; 8 grandchildren Jennifer, Dawn, Leslee, Robert, Matthew, Christina, Taylor, Keigan, 8 great grandchildren Lauchie, Marlee, Malcolm, Amanda, Paige, Davis, Loren and Kate. Also surviving are brothers Edison (Adelaide) Taylor, Bedford, Jim (Valerie Serroul) Taylor, Sydney, sister Beryl (George) Samson, Sydney River, also by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Stuart in 2000, 2 daughters in infancy, 3 sisters Margaret Jordan, Muriel MacLean and Brenda Jefferson and brothers Everett and Art.
Visitation will take place at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel on Friday, April 12 from 2-5 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11 am in Sydney River United Protestant Church with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment to follow in Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Sydney.
