76 – Membertou First Nations
It is with broken hearts, that the family announce the passing of Carl Edmund Gould on Monday January 14, 2019 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
Carl was the son of the late Mary Doucette, and raised by the late Frank and Anne Gould of Membertou.
Carl worked as the Chief Financial Officer of the Union of Nova Scotia Indians for over 40 years and retired in 2017.He was known to the War Veteran’s as the Pay Master. In Carl’s early years, he enjoyed running, especially in Marathons. Carl will be remembered for his dedication as a Treaty Day Committee member. He was a great family man, who worked hard to provide for his family. Carl was a member of St. Ann’s Mission Church.
Left to mourn is his wife Geraldine (Isadore) Gould; daughter Martha (Gerry) Crossman; sons, Lincoln and Teddy Gould, all of Membertou; stepchildren Norman (Rachel) Prosper of Ottawa; Danny and Maury Prosper of Afton; Lillian Prosper of Membertou; Patricia and Rita Prosper of Afton; his grandchildren Samantha Fayette of BC; Jamey, Caitlyn, Mekayla, Kale and Taylor Gould; Cecily ‘my buddy’, Nadine (Aaron) Prosper, Promise and Julius Prosper and his 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Joe B. (Viola) Marshall; Bernie Francis and PJ (Germaine) Doucette and godchildren Jay Marshall, Darlene Anganis and Rene Prosper.
Besides his parents Carl was predeceased by his son Howard in infancy; stepson Roderick Prosper and brother Frank Doucette.
Visitation starts Thursday after 7 pm at family residence on 19 Mic Mac Crescent, Membertou. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church with Fr. Bill Burke officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.twcurry.com
