We, the family of Anne Currie, 78, regret to announce her passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on January 23, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Anne (Hest) and John James Capstick.
She is survived by her sister, Helen Capstick and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Elaine Capstick. She is also survived by 2 lifelong dedicated friends, Ginger Hogan Murphy and Monica McMullen Rogers.She was predeceased by her husband Ronald Currie and brothers, Charlie, Fr. John, Gerald, Peter, Frank, sisters; Mary Fligg and Bernice MacFarlane.
Upon graduating from St. Michael’s High School, she attended the Nova Scotia Teachers College, later she received her BA from the Cape Breton University. She began her teaching career in Glace Bay, then spent several years teaching in Edmonton, AB, and Prince George, BC and Sault St. Marie, ON. Anne returned to Nova Scotia and completed the last half of her teaching career in Cape Breton working in special education. Anne spent her retirement years in Sydney.
Anne was a thoughtful, generous person, who cared for members of her family whenever the need arose. She was a socially active person. She loved singing and playing the guitar. She enjoyed walking, and exercising at the gym. She also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles. Anne became ill and was a resident at MacGillivary Guest Home for the last 2 years. Her family would like to thank the workers for her good care.
Cremation has taken place through TW Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima on June 18, 2022 at 11 am. .
