We the family, announce with great sadness, the loss of our father, brother, uncle and friend, Alfred Joseph Joe, on August 2nd, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Alfred Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Joe.
Junior or “Juju Bear”, was a family man at heart, he loved visiting with his relatives and doted on his son Francis Stephen Phillips-Joe. He led a simple life, often working as a landscaper and for Eskasoni Public Works. He was an avid walker, often with the intention of visiting loved ones, or going to spend time at the Eskasoni Crisis Center where he was beloved by the staff. Alfred loved 80’s music, especially 80’s hip-hop that he could breakdance to. He was known to be crafty, dabbling in bead work and his own special inventions. Alfred will be dearly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Alfred is predeceased by his parents Alfred Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Joe, his siblings in infancy; Marcia Joe, Noel Quincy Joe and Fabian Joseph Joe, his god-parents James and Mary Nevins, his uncle Michael Christmas, his auntie-mom Mary Catherine Christmas and his niece Theresa Joe.
Alfred is survived by his son Francis Phillips-Joe, his sister Vivian Joe-Doucette (John), and his step-siblings; Lonnie Christmas, Michael Christmas, Thomas Christmas, J.J. Dennis and Martha Marshall. Also left to mourn are his uncles; Steven and Thomas Christmas, and his aunts; Bridget Christmas, Debra Isaac, Clara MacAulay, and Nancy Powers. Alfred also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and one god-child.
A visitation will be held on August 7th, at the Gabriel Center in Eskasoni, at 7pm, and will conclude with a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, at 10:30am, August 9th at Holy Family Church. Father Antolin Asor and Deacon Tom Sylliboy officiating. To leave memories and condolences please visit www.twcurry.com.
