Born in Fall River a son of the late John W. and Lucille (Roy) Obenchain he was a long time resident of Swansea.
A graduate of Joseph Case High School, Class of 1982, he earned an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from the Community College of Rhode Island and worked at Rhode Island hospital for over 10 years. A clerk for the United States Post Office in Providence for 35 years until he retired in 2019.
A member of the Liberal Club in Fall River he played for their Dart League. He enjoyed fishing and always had a tall tale to tell. He and Stephanie traveled together on their motorcycles to 49 states and every Canadian province. Tom especially loved having his coffee and a donut with his little, fat dog Lola.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Justin Gaskell and his wife Jessica of New Bedford and Zachary Gaskell and his wife Amanda of Fall River; two brothers, John W. Gaskell, III and his wife Susan and James Obenchain and his wife Lori; one granddaughter, Jayleigh Souza and several nieces and nephews.
His private arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, Swansea.
