Born in New York, NY, Katia was the daughter of the late Steven and Mary (McManus) Buchler and the sister of the late Anne Reilly and Mimi Buchler. In addition to her husband, Katia is survived by her three children Cristina M. Lund-Tack and her husband David of West Newton, Michael B. Lund and his wife Nicole of Fall River and Brendan C. Lund and his wife Erin of Berkley; her seven grandchildren Colin, Dylan, Buchler, Morgan, John Joseph, Jackson and Connor, and several nieces and nephews.
Katia was a graduate of The Ursuline School in New Rochelle and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of New Rochelle and her Masters of Education at Bridgewater State University.
Within a month of Katia’s marriage to John, the newlyweds went to Brazil to serve in the Peace Corps. They returned home a year and a half later and settled in Swansea, MA. Having been an immigrant herself in Brazil, it was only natural that after having three children Katia began a thirty year career, which she truly loved, teaching English as a Second Language at Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA until her retirement in 2007.
Katia was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Fatima, now St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Her family will receive guests prior to her mass from 10 to 11am in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael H. Flanagan Foundation in honor of Katia Lund, PO Box 708, Barrington, RI 02806 or www.mikesfoundation.com . Arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest.
