George Parent, Age 90, of McKinney, TX, formerly of Swansea and Somerset, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center in Dallas, TX. He was the beloved husband of Jean M. (Kupiec) Parent, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, MA, George was the son of the late George and Blanche (Menuier) Parent. George worked for the Fall River Herald News as a Building Superintendent for 25 years, retiring in 1996.
Throughout his life, he had a strong passion for working with his hands—whether fixing things around the house, building, or tending to his yard. His passion for his car was evident as he spent countless hours maintaining, polishing and driving cross country with his beloved wife Jean. George also had a talent for cooking and found joy in bringing breakfast to his wife every day in bed and preparing nightly dinners.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children: Steven W. Parent and spouse Nan of Union, WA, Michael G. Parent and spouse Nancy of Cotuit, MA, and Donna J. (Parent) Alkarmi and Spouse Majdi of Cross Roads, TX; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Irene Parent, William Parent, Jeannette and Lauretta Francoeur.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, followed by burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service.
