David E. Jelinski, age 80, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022 at his residence unexpectedly. He was the husband of Joan M. (Reagan) Jelinski to whom he has been married for the past 57 years.
Born in Plover, Wisconsin, a son of the late Edwin and Magdalene (Fredrikson) Jelinski, he was the stepson of the late Lorraine (Cisewski) Jelinski. He had been a resident of Swansea since 1969.
A graduate of Stevens Point High School, Class of 1960, he was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of the Naval Reserve. Mr. Jelinski worked as an Electrical Engineer at Raytheon Technologies for 35 years before his retirement.
A communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, he was a volunteer Firefighter for Swansea Fire Department Station 2. A Wisconsin native, he was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling and reading a good book. He especially loved vacationing in New Hampshire with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Kevin Jelinski and his wife Zenaide Borges of Fall River; one daughter, Karen Jelinski and her husband Carl Geisel of Warren, RI; and two granddaughters, Taylor and Cassidy Huftalen of Warren, RI who were the loves of his life. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sharon Evert and her husband Frederick, four brothers Jack Jelinski and his wife Jane of MT, Leonard Jelinski and his wife Debbie, Bruce Jelinski, Jeffrey Jelinski; three sisters, Cheryl Klawikowski and her husband Bernie, Mary Opperman and her husband Jerry, Kristine Egner and her husband Tim all of WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Christopher D. Jelinski and brother of the late Karen Nolte, Gary Jelinski and Jody Jelinski.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd. Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to St. Jude Research Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
