He was at home with his wife Merle/Bunny and his youngest daughter Debbie who so selflessly cared for him since his stroke in April.
He was born January 4, 1933 in Toronto and we had 91 memorable years with him. He later moved with his family to Vancouver BC, where he attended Vancouver College and then worked for Canada Packers in many roles, finally retiring in the sales department. He met his wife at the hospital while there with his best friend Lou, who was having an emergency appendectomy! She was the attending nurse and when she went to show Ron the results of the surgery…..he fell for her, literally! He actually passed out and she cared for him……it was their 70th Wedding Anniversary Nov 13! Together with Merle/Bunny they raised three daughters and a son living in Coquitlam for many years eventually moving to White Rock in retirement.
Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife Merle/Bunny, daughters Wendy(Kurt), Sandy(Bill), Debbie and son Scott(Tracey) His grandchildren Kimberly(Michael), Melanie(Sébastien), Amy(Patrick) Cindy(Trevor), Lisa(Drew), Danielle(Joseph), Christina, Emily(Shawn), Mason and Ryley. Also his great grandchildren Mila, Nico, Éloïse, Édouard, Connor, Kaylin, Emmett, Autumn, Ivy, Max, Zoey, Rowyn, Willow and Eirik.
THE ROSE BEYOND THE WALL
Near shady wall a rose once grew,
budded and blossomed in God's free light,
watered and fed by morning dew,
shedding its sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
slowly rising to loftier height,
it came to a crevice in the wall,
through which there shone a beam of light.
Onward it crept with added strength,
with never a thought of fear or pride,
it followed the light through the crevice length,
and unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view,
were found the same as they were before;
and lost itself in beauties new,
breathing its fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve
and make our courage faint or fall?
Nay, let us faith and hope receive;
the rose still grows beyond the wall,
Scattering fragrance far and wide,
Just as it did in the days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forevermore.
