Born and raised in England, Roger moved to Canada when he was 25 years old, retiring to White Rock with his wife in 2013.
He is predeceased by his parents Laurence and Violet Martin and his sister Vivien; father-in-law Lloyd Quan.
Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane; sister Margaret; brother Harvey; nephews Philip (Georgina), children Harry and Archie, Darryl (Sarah), children, Georgia and Mhairi, David (Ruth) and children, Jonny and Claudia, mother-in-law Vicki and stepfather Philip as well as sister-in law Sharon (Dennie), their children, Nicole and Kyle; brother-in law Eddie (Mona) and daughter Rachel, brother-in-law Lloyd; as well as the many cousins.
Roger loved his wife, family and friends with passion! He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, sailing, travelling, doing home renovations and of course BEER, Wine, chocolate, pickled onions and a good curry meal as well as dim sum/Chinese food. But to know Roger is to love Roger.
Roger was a retired Toronto firefighter with 27 years of service, a career that he loved and was very proud of.
He will be fondly remembered for his BLUE eyes, his kind and generous heart, sense of humor, and loving romantic nature.
The family would like to thank the staff of Peace Arch Hospice, as well as the palliative care team at Surrey Memorial Hospital, the Peace Arch Home Health Team of nurses, and care aids; his doctors: Dr. Lyly Li, Dr. Christian Kollmannsberger, his nurse Sarah Farnalls, Dr. Michael MacKenzie and the chemotherapy nurses at the Vancouver Cancer Centre.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kidney Cancer Canada and Peace Arch Hospice Society.
