David and I are so sorry to be unable to attend the service. Aunt Dornie and Uncle John played a great part in my life - everything from cottage time in the east (I loved Norway Bay!) to travel in Switzerland and Holland (I remember the VW camper van) to home visits (great view of the Rockies from the home in Calgary). I loved the family photos - many of which I had not seen. We send our love to all the family and want you to know that you are in our thoughts.

We fondly remember CCCTS biking trips with John, in particular those to New Zealand and Hawaii, as well as several other bike trips.We also attended several Nature Vancouver (VNHS) summer camps in the BC mountains, where John was a valued participant. Dorothy and John Philip, Vancouver, BC.

As a foemwer colleague ajd friend of John;s, I wish to express my sympathy to his famiy. He was a gret person.

My late parents, Dr. Douglas and Madge Aikenhead, were friends of John and Dornicilla in the 60's in the early days of the University of Calgary.  My late mother and Dornicilla became quite close through their work at the Faculty Women's Club.  John was a renaissance man, much respected for his many talents.  He will be missed.

My husband Bill and I were Dr. Peck's students at the University of Calgary when the campus opened in 1960.  We were both mathematics majors, and actually met in his classes (Calculus and Finite Mathematics, 8:30 a.m.).  He was an excellent teacher, patient and unflappable.  When the University bought its first computer (which filled a room), he let the math students try writing routines for it.  When we married after graduation, we left Calgary.  Our paths never crossed his again, but we have never forgotten him.  At his memorial service, you will certainly celebrate a good man and a good life well lived.

Shirley Mae & I enjoyed many C.C.C.T.S. tours with John. John was responsible for me leading my 1st tour into the Kootenays. His stick man computer tour maps were invaluable for any tour leader. He certainly was a great cyclist & we all benefited by his knowledge & leadership. Great memories! Our condolences to his family. Jim & Shirley Mae Jeffrey, Peachland, B.C.

I first met John Peck as a member and leader of the CCCTS bike club in 1989. He  was an amazing leader, well organized and very knowlegable.He put a great deal of effort into every trip he lead and we as a group benefited from his efforts. he organized a trip for us to South Africa in 1998. John did not come on this trip but thanks to him we had a wonderful time. John and Donacilla lead a trip on the Dempster Highway....what a memory!I did many more trips with John and always had a great time.His quiet gentle nature was a trade mark.

Uncle John was always the quiet, wise and intelligent uncle for me.  He intrigued me with his knowledge and variety of interests.  He amazed me with his incredible bicycling journeys.  He cared for me by always remembering my birthday and my kids' birthdays.  I no longer have any uncles or aunts on this earth.  He was the last link to that generation of my family.  I am saddened that he is gone.

John Peck was an amazing man. I first met him about 1992 . He was an original member of the  CCCTS (Cross Canada Cycle Touring Society).         He served on the administrating council of this society up until just recently.  He provided great administrative qualities and also did an active part in organizing cycle tours through out the world. 
There were a lot of younger cyclist that tried to outpace him up a hill and old "Black Stockings" would disappear uphill and out of sight.
He made a huge contribution to this society which has expanded enormously to participants throughout North America and the world.

Uncle John, you never failed to remember every birthday and your kind wishes and thoughts were so appreciated every year! Although we never had the pleasure of meeting, I have heard a great amount of stories from Dad which I will always remember. I will miss our brief annual correspondence. Much love x
