Ann Lesley (Bell) Shepherd passed away peacefully with her son Donald Shepherd and sister Jennifer Pecknold at her side on January 23rd, 2022 at Amica Retirement Community in White Rock, British Columbia.
Ann was born October 28th, 1936 in Marlow, England, the daughter of Leslie and Alice Charlotte (nee Goodgame) Bell. Ann grew up in England during World War II. After the war Ann would attend secondary school and excelled in academics and sports, and together with her 6 sisters and 2 brothers all graduated school with high marks, a source of great pride for her devoted mother and father. Following school, Ann would travel across Europe, and then embarked for Canada where she first lived with her brother John in British Columbia. It was in Vancouver where she would meet and marry Vernon James (Jim) Shepherd in 1965 who was employed by the railroad. The couple moved many times for Jim’s work in the cities Seattle, Toronto, Detroit, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, New York before finally retiring in Vancouver. The couple raised two sons Michael and Donald. Ann was known for her vocal support of her amateur hockey playing boys in ice rinks across the USA and Canada and her love of playing Bridge!
In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Jim Shepherd and by brothers John and Ron Bell and sisters Vera Rockell and Helen Heybourne. She is survived by her son Michael Shepherd and his wife Shelly and her grandchildren Patrick, Veronica and Trevor of Los Angeles, California and her son Donald Shepherd of White Rock. She is also survived by her sisters Susan Jordan, Jennifer Pecknold, Jean Martinez and Lesley Servantes and many nieces and nephews.
