I am unsure why I am getting the message of his death a year late. He was a good friend. I respected him. He was a great and loyal U. S. Marine. He kept me from falling into the South China Sea at Naha. Had I fallen I would have surely died.

Pictures of Papa at my wedding to Michael. Papa, I'm so that you were able to attend. I remember the four us going out to dinner the day or so before at Zorba's Greek restaurant. I remember you saying that you were happy that I found someone who loved me and wanted to spend the rest of their life with me.

Papa and Breanna at my wedding on Feb. 1st, 2018 at the Coupeville, WA in the courthouse. Papa I think that was probably the last time you came back to the island. I will remember you taking Breanna and me camping out at Deception Pass and eating smores and other camping trip in your RVs.

Sledding at Mt. Baker with Papa,  Breanna (Papa's youngest granddaughter), Mom (Melinda Papa's oldest daughter) and me (Miranda, Papa's oldest granddaughter). Papa I remember you trying to run out of the way so Breanna and I would run into you and well...you went flying in the air and landed flat on your back! I will remember and cherish that day.

Dad, I know we didn't always see eye to eye on everything.  But, I learned a lot from you as a child and you made sure that we always had a new adventure and experienced so many things and saw so much history from where the Wright brothers first flew ,  George Washington's  home,  the grave of the unknown soldiers, and so much more I cant even list them all. 

I think the funniest memory I have of you was when you were swimming in the ocean and a school of fish started hitting your legs.  I yelled "Piranha!" and you starting jumping as high as you could, trying to get away.  Brian, Mom and I  were safe on the shore, laughing.  ( it really wasn't piranhas  Wink, Wink)

For years I would show you a picture of me with Santa and say to you " I think that's you dressed up as Santa.. That Santa has the same eyes as you, Dad."  You would just give this deep chuckle."  You finally fessed up when I was an adult that it was you, but that was always a favorite childhood memory.

I love you and I miss you.  Please say hi to Brian. Until we all meet up again,  Dad...

I will always remember the huggie buggies and riding in the orange convertible bug. I love you Papa and I miss you. I wish I could have seen you more time or talked to you more one time. I'm happy knowing you're in a place to find rest.

Frenchy, as we called him, and I met in 1963 while members of B Company, 3rd Shore Party Bn, 1st Marine Brigade, 3rd Marine Division, stationed at K Bay, Oahu, Hawaii. He was a  Corporal back then in our heavy equipment platoon. He was highly respected not only for his job performance but for simply being a man. We traveled to Okinawa and then to Vietnam in 1965 landing at Chu Lai and then the company moved to Monkey Island. The last time I saw him was at Randall and Monty Gooding's home where a bunch of us got together and told stories, drank beer, and had a wonderful time together. Frenchy was one of a kind. He kept me from falling off the dock once in Naha, Okinawa by grabbing hold of me when I slipped in the dark on our way to the LST we travelled in going to S VN in 1965.  He was a true Marine and wonderful man and I will miss him.

You were loved by our family, when you guys meet up please know you are missed by us all and the memories and fun we have had since 1963 love to you Lydia,   Monty and the boys
