Mike Seddon of Surprise, Arizona has passed away to be with Jesus our Lord and Savior on Wednesday December 28, 2022, at the age of 78. He was born on May 18, 1944, in the Bronx, New York where he grew up until he went to college at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. It was there during his first weekend of college where he met his future Bride, Joyce Mary Pilkowskas in 1962.
Mike and Joyce were married on July 9, 1965, at St. Stanislaus Kostka in Brooklyn, NY. Shortly afterwards, they were blessed with their first son Ken. Mike was in both the Army National Guard and worked for IBM as they lived in Kingston, New York.
In 1971, their welcomed their second son, Michael John (Mike) and soon after, in 1974, they embraced their third son, Darren, both in Morristown, New Jersey. The family then moved to Manassas, Virginia for a brief time before moving to Essex Junction, Vermont where they raised their three boys.
Dad loved sailing, boating, fishing, skiing, spending time with his friends, and of course his family. We have fond memories of how much he loved fishing with his family trying to catch some big walleye’s, but most times ended up bringing home buckets of tiny perch. He loved movies at night with the family where he would take out his 8mm projector and we would take turns speaking the parts of Star Wars. This progressed into movie night with the fancy VHS tapes where just going to the video rental store was an adventure.
We never really considered Dad struggling even though he had open heart surgery at age 35. In later years, he had to learn to cope with nerve pain on a daily basis and the effects of his eventual 19 heart attacks. Throughout his days, he always found a way to fight back and recover. He was our “Energizer Bunny”.
That great strength paled in comparison to his love for his wife, sons, grandkids, and friends. His love was perfect…never ending…boundless and always present. He continually looked for ways to make us happy and only wanted to be around his grandkids to see them grow. He always wanted to capture the moment with his camera or pick out a DVD or game he thought his grandkids would enjoy.
Dad tried to hang on after this latest series of heart attacks about 3 weeks ago, but it was time for him to go and be with his sisters, Mom and Dad, Lori and all the other family and friends who are there in Heaven. We know they were all there to welcome him with open arms, and I know my dad is up there cracking them up with jokes about wearing a robe or something. And I bet he is enjoying being called Mickey again by his sisters.
Dad may not be here anymore in person…but we know he will constantly be looking down on us and watching over us relentlessly up there in Heaven.
