James William “Jimmy” Parker Jr, 59, of Surprise, AZ, died December 6, 2013. He was born on January 4th, 1954, in Elkins, West Virginia, to James and Carolyn Parker. He attended Highland Park Elementary and graduated from Elkins High School. He earned the honor of Eagle Scout as a member of Boy Scout Troop 99 and spent 35 years as a dedicated coal miner at Robinson Run Mine. He was also a proud and loyal member of the United Mine Workers of America. He continued to be active after his retirement organizing unions on the Navajo Nation. He was an avid lover of the skies and enjoyed flying RC airplanes. He was a selfless, kind and thoughtful man who was thought of as a friend by all who met him. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Mary Celeste Terrano Parker, a son, Levi Parker and his wife Ashley, of Phoenix, AZ, another son, Alex, of Glendale, AZ, a granddaughter on the way, Alexis Parker, a sister, Diane Parker of Sun City, AZ, and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Carolyn, three sisters; Barbara, Sharon and Martha and one brother, Albert “Pete” Parker. A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2014 at 1:00 pm. at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W Bell Road, Surprise, AZ. A second celebration will be held on Saturday, May 24th in Elkins, WV, at the Hitchin’ Post at 1:00 pm. Pastors Rodney Hilson and Virgil Johnson will officiate the service.
