I'm very sorry to hear this. It seems like it was just last week when in 2019 I went to a number of college playoff games in February with Frank. I had known him from many conversations on the telephone about baseball. He was a very interesting individual. He told me stories of his baseball experiences being an umpire and some of the stories from when he was growing up about baseball.  Heaven is a much better place now that he is there and may he rest in peace.  I will always think of him anytime I hear anything about the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Sorry for being so late with this memory, but I just found out today a year later.  Mr. Daniel was like a father to me he coached me in baseball, basketball driver Ed. and most importantly life, I went to Knick, Mets, and Hockey games with him after I graduated. He also supported me and gave me the strength to try  new things.   I didn’t have a father and could have easily gone off the rails during those years.   I wish I could have told him thank you in person. Great man  I think of him everyday. Rest In Peace coach.  

I think of him often when I am driving. He was both my classroom and behind the wheel instructor. To this day, if I make a driving mistake, I can hear his reprimands. He was a great teacher!

Thank You so much for sharing the Great Gift we came to know as Mr.Daniels. I will never forget my first drivers ed experience. We were out on the road, route 17 then had me drive home. He was taken off guard when i tookthe right onto rivervale rd a bit too fast, he called me a cowgirl. Lol. 

I was very sad to hear of Mr Daniel 's untimely death.   Like many of the above, he coached my soccer and baseball teams, and was my drivers Ed teacher, way back in 1984-88.   He was a very good friend to me, and had an enormous impact upon my life.   He showed confidence in me as a player and a person by putting me on the field - more confidence than I had in myself at the time - and that helped me succeed in life.  When I'd heard he died, I remembered what he'd wrote in my yearbook:  "Ed, Thanks for all you meant to the team in soccer and baseball; you were an important part of both.  You are a very competitive person.  Keep it tame and you'll go far.   The desire burns within you like it does in me, but it has to be controlled.   Good luck in all you do.  I'll miss the biscuits*.  Drop back and see us.  You have a friend for life, pal."
*Mr Daniel was a fan of Kentucky Fried Chicken's biscuits, so we always brought him some...

My friends and I only made it back a few times visit him after graduating - but we did bring some biscuits!    I didn't do nearly enough for him to warrant a 'friend for life' status - but I'm very thankful for what he did for me.

I moved to Sun City Grand in the Fall of 2001. I met Frank because we lived close to one another. He invited me to an Arizona vs. Arizona State basketball game, which I enjoyed tremendously. The next year he talked me into buying Arizona State Season basketball tickets-- full enjoyment due to my love of college basketball.
Frank always knew more about sports history than I did. I thought it was because he lived in the metropolitan New York area, which was the MEGA college basketball home. Oh those early doubleheaders in Madison Square Garden, and then the birth of ESPN Sports and their early success because they highlighted BIG EAST Basketball. This made a lot of sports fans into college basketball fans.
However there was another happening that gave me the clue why he knew so much more. On one of our trips to attend an Arizona State basketball game, he gave me his ticket for a future game and told me to take someone else. My curiosity got the best of me, so I asked him what was happening. His answer, "on Saturday I am flying to Pittsburgh & Sunday I will see the Steelers play. On Monday I will drive to Cleveland and see the Browns in the Monday Night game. My goal is to see a game in every Professional League stadium."
To Frank: Thanks for the sports companionship the last 18 years. I will never forget you and your famous sports stories.

I knew Frank from kindergarten through high school.  We grew up on the same small street in Ridgewood, New Jersey.  I was happy to see him at our 60th high school reunion just a few months ago, and was shocked to learn that has just recently died.  My sympathies to his wife and family.

Like many, I knew Frank through baseball, namely our shared work in the Arizona League and Arizona Fall League. I passed the time during many a game talking and engaging in friendly banter with Frank, who was seemingly never at a loss to have a point to make. We may not have always agreed, but we always came out better for the conversation. I'm honored to have had the time with him that I did.

When I got the sad news that Frank Daniel had passed, I started playing back so many memories of him as my coach and teacher at Park Ridge High.  In some of those memories, he's quietly peering out from under the brim of a baseball hat pulled low over his eyes.  In others, he is...well... quite a bit louder - like when I accidentally threw the driver's ed station wagon into reverse at 40 mph.  But every memory brings a smile to my face.  My high school years wouldn't have been as fondly remembered without him.  

I heard it often and since he isn't here to say it, I'll say it for him, "It's Coach DANIEL.  There's only one of me."  There certainly was.  You'll be missed, Coach.  Rest peacefully and thanks for everything.  

Mr. Daniel was my Drivers Ed teacher and taught me how to parallel park day 2 on the road!! He also put me on Route 17 day one on the road !! He said don’t be afraid!! He was a great teacher and remained my friend for the last 40 years. In the past 10 years he attended some NY Giants away games with me as well. He was a great friend and a caring person. I always enjoyed all his sports stories. My deepest sympathy to his wife and family. 

I only knew Frank for five years but it felt like 25.  Whether it was jabbering after a Sports Group meeting or hanging out in the booth before/after Fall League games, he never ceased to amuse and amaze me with stories and laugh lines.  I liked him very much, and only a few weeks ago had the privilege of introducing him to my wife for the first time.  I'm so glad I did, and I will miss his presence very much.  

Frank was an integral part of the SCG Sports Interest Group.
Most recently he was a contestant on our Sports Jeopardy.
Frank loved all sports and was the ultimate fan.
We shared lots of baseball memories as we were both Baseball Giant Fans.

Coach Daniel was both my Driver's Ed teacher and soccer coach. I remember when we went to practice parallel parking. I did a great job the first time, so he made me drive around the block to do it again. When I aced it again, he sort of grumbled and we kept going with the driving. 

As a soccer coach, he helped all of us with fundamentals and conditioning. He was a tough taskmaster, but the results were worth it. 

Mr. Daniels was my tennis coach and Drivers Ed instructor. Despite my nervousness of driving— he helped make me feel comfortable behind the wheel of the car. I always tell people that it is because of him, that I parallel park so well! :)
We also connected with baseball; we were able to get him tickets to the All Star game in Cleveland as well as tickets to other games (my husband was with the Red Sox for 21 yrs). Glad Mr. Daniels was still involved in baseball! He was a class act— always showed concern for those around him— Thank you, Mr. Daniels- for everything you did for all of us! 
My condolences to his family; our prayers will be with you.

Coach “Buddy” Daniel you were a great coach, mentor and friend, and I owe a lot of my success on the diamond to you. I still cannot thank you enough for traveling all the way out east to attend the HofF dinner- such a class act and phenomenal person. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and may you Rest In Peace. 

Mr.  Daniel was my Driver Ed teacher as well.    I’ve thought of him often through the 4 decades that have passed.   Yet it seems like yesterday that he took me out in the large maroon station wagon.  Put me on RT 17 in the left hand lane in a snow storm.     It was a nervous giggle, white knuckle ride for me but I remember when I asked   “Are you crazy?”  He said “You are no longer afraid of large cars, highways or bad weather.   You did it! “.     Only God knows how many lives he’s saved over the years by teaching us valuable lessons, skills and an appreciation for the law.    In my 40+ years of driving I have never had a point on my license and for that I will be eternally grateful to Mr. Daniel.   He was an amazing teacher.   A friend to all who knew him.    Rest In Peace Mr. Daniel!    Forever grateful... Leadfoot!  

Mr. Daniels was my Driver’s Ed teacher and a friend... he was a great coach, teacher that was always there to lend a helping hand or just to listen to my silly stories. I never thought I would pass my driving test and I can hear his voice saying “ you got this Hennessy”.... he also knew my Dad thru baseball! 
He was a kind, uplifting and gentle man, and I am saddened to hear this news , but Heaven gained an angel!

Frank was my baseball coach. Frank was my friend. Always someone you could talk to about baseball and about life. He was a one of a kind character no doubt about it. I remember meeting and Frank and his wife Lynn at St Louis airport on their connection out to Phoenix. She was lovely and we had such a great time catching up. One of the truly good men I’ve met in my life. I’m blessed to have known you, Coach. 

Coach Daniel was without a doubt one of the great influencers in my life.  I was very close with him at Park Ridge High School and maintained a relationship with him way beyond.  I reference him all the time as I coach my teams and a lot of my actions, practice drills and game decisions are without a doubt derivatives of what he taught me.  I am honored he was my coach, mentor and friend.   I shared this in a blog post and feel it is very appropriate to share here.  Everyone has a bunch of “Frank” stories...here are a few of mine.

"Mr. Daniels" knew I was shy and made me feel more at ease and confident by treating me with respect, which improves a student's self-esteem . This is what he was about. His having my back when he knew I needed it was one of his unique ways of empowering people and demonstrating his personal and professional leadership. He was also my Driver's Ed and Gym teacher. In Driver's Ed (1974), he would tell me I have Lead-foot-itis when I accelerated while driving. Thank you and RIP to a good man!

Frank was one of the first friends I am made at Park Ridge High School.  He got stuck monitoring a study hall of 80 students with me.  He always looked out for me and showed me the ropes.  His friendship and mentorship will never be forgotten.  Rest in peace!

Ruth McIlhargy

I remember Frank (Mr. Daniels) from 7th grade math.  He talked me into being the J.V. baseball manager.  He let me play in scrimmages and practice with the team. He also took me to a few Mets games.  I always enjoyed times spent with him and am very sorry to hear of his passing.  May he rest in eternal peace.

Frank and I became good Giant Fan Friends.
He was in SF when I was honored at ATT Park.
He was in NY when the Giants brought the 2012 Championship Trophy back.
Frank was a sincere man and we spent his last meal at the Cactus League Luncheon this week.

Rest in peace, Frank. I enjoyed many great baseball conversations over the years with Frank. He was an avid fan who spent many days and evenings working in the Fall League press boxes. Fall League folks are like a family-and we have lost one of our own.
