He was born on September 23rd 1944 in Roswell New Mexico and grew up in Albuquerque New Mexico. He went to Albuquerque High School then went on to serve in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service in the Navy he graduated from tech School and worked as an accountant many years with the Salvation Army and the State of Arizona before retiring and moving to San Diego.
He loved going to the beach, traveling, spending time with family, watching movies, concerts, bowling, and spoiling his 2 faithful Italian Greyhounds Lucky and Baby. They will surely be excited to see him again! In his last home in the Phoenix area, Dan was actively involved in the Sun City Festival Vets Club and VFW
He was preceded in death by his Sister Elaine Cross (Ray), his brother Ronnie Wheeler (Ida) and his parents Frances Cady Wheeler and Leo Vern Wheeler.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, daughter Denise (Jerry), son Sean, two granddaughters Joei and Meadow, son in law Eric, two grandsons Brandon and Cody, his great grandson Eric Jr., his sister Jeanine Gaines (Jerry), and his brother in law Ray Cross (Elaine).
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service and committal with military honors Friday, March 3, 2023 at 2:30 PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the home of his daughter Denise at 13258 West Banff Lane, Surprise Arizona 85379.
