Brent Lenard Hughes Sr., also known as “Notorious Nard” was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 5, 1946 to Beulah Jean and James Hughes. Brent came to California after graduating from Booker T Washington High in 1964. He joined the Navy and was sent to San Diego, California. His shipmates called him Pee Wee. While there in California, he met the love of his life, Barbara Miller.
Brent is survived by his wife of 56 years Barbara Hughes, his daughters Angela Walton, Melony Clark, his two sons Brent Lenard Hughes Jr and Jason Everett Hughes (Rachael Hughes), his two brothers, Ronnie Hughes and Cecil Everett Hughes (Gloria Hughes), his cousins Jacquelyn Riley-King, Yvonne Hill (Ricky), Raghib Na’eem Rashada (Sonny). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 10 great grans all who affectionately call him “PAPA”. Brent had a great love for his grans and great grans. They are all unique. And a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Brent was preceeded in death by his mother Beulah Jean (Buggs) Hughes, James Hughes Sr, James Hughes Jr, and Ralph Hughes.
