WOLODYMYRA NATALIA FOSTIAK, 93, of Tucson, AZ passed away on Sunday morning, April 18, 2021 at the Elmcroft Senior Living Centre in Tucson, Arizona. Wolodymyra was born in Zhowkva, Ukraine to Rozalia and Iwan Pawnyk on April 24, 1927. In the winter of 1944, she married Bohdan Fostiak and began a tortuous journey through eastern Europe as a refugee of World War II. In 1950, she emigrated with her husband and young son, Oleh, to the United States.
Wolodymyra worked many jobs in the United States, but her main career was as a wife and mother to her family. She was a devout Catholic and donated her time to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Chicago and at the Dormition of Mother of God in Tucson, Arizona.
Wolodymyra is preceded in death by Bohdan Fostiak, her husband of 68 years, her son Wolodymyr, her mother and father, Iwan and Rozalia Pawnyk and her sister Miroslava Pawnyk. She is survived by her two sons (Oleh Fostiak and his wife Kathy, Rostyslaw Fostiak and his wife Margaret), five grandchildren (Christopher Fostiak and his wife Sara, Tanja Lawson and her husband Jim, Matthew Fostiak and his wife Kari, Larissa Fostiak and her husband Andrew, Tracey Lindberg and her husband Todd), and ten great-grandchildren (Tyler Gibson, Tyler Lawson, Jack Fostiak, Ryan Fostiak, Megan Fostiak, Alyssa Allen, Connor Allen, Brooklyn Allen, Riley Lindberg, Emily Lindberg) her niece (Wendy Fostiak-Amos and her husband Rob) as well as all her extended family and friends both here in the USA and in the Ukraine.
Visitation will be 11 am -12 pm at Sunland Funeral Home 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ on April 24, 2021. A Prayer Service and burial will be held immediately following visitation at Sunland Cemetery.
The family of Wolodymyra Fostiak wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Tucson Medical Center Hospice, their Social Worker, Mary Beth, RN Susan, and the staff at Elmcroft Senior Living Center in Tucson for the care they gave our mother during her final days with us.
