Russell J. Miller, 80, former resident of Surprise, Arizona, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023. Born July 9, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, son of George & Anna Miller. Russell is survived by his brother and only sibling, Kenneth Miller. He married his beloved wife of 52 years, Melodee Linne Maas (deceased) on December 30, 1961 also in Chicago, Illinois.
Russell and Melodee had one daughter, Deborah Lynn Miller, born December 26, 1962, and one son, Gerald Andrew Miller (deceased), born August 1, 1964.
Russell attended St. Celestine Catholic School in Elmwood Park, IL in his youth, and graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago, Illinois. He also served honorably in the United States Army. In their early twenties, Russell and Melodee built a home in Wood Dale, IL where they resided and raised their daughter Deborah.
Russell was a Master Electrician by trade. He held the honor of being a distinguished sixty year member of the (IBEW) International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union Number 134 in Chicago, Illinois.
Russell and Melodee retired and moved to Surprise, Arizona in 2002. Russell was an avid horse racing fan and had a great love for automobiles. He was a very intelligent man with many talents.
Russell is survived by his daughter Deborah Lynn Miller-Cortes, four grandchildren; Jillian G. Bienz (Daniel), Alan J. Holeman, Leopoldo J. Cortes (Natalie), and Anelia L. Cortes. Along with four great grandchildren; Tyler, Tiffany, Eleanor and Emily Bienz.
A viewing and funeral service will be held in honor of Russell J. Miller from 11-1pm Saturday September 23, 2023 at Sunland Memorial Park Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Arizona, 85351.
