Not long after high school Ron met the love of his life, Janet. They married after Ron returned from the Korean conflict and eventually settled in Bloomington, Minnesota, where they raised their three children.
Ron was a talented mechanic for Norwest Airlines for 37 years. After retirement, he and Jan moved to Sun City West, Arizona, where they spent many happy years and developed strong friendships. Ron was a committed volunteer with numerous charities and was an active member of the leather carving club. He loved getting together with friends, traveling with Jan, visiting his kids, and playing with his dog Gigi.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife Janet, who he was married to for 60 years. He is survived by his sisters Bette Robin and Barb Decker; his children, Dean Thayer and his wife Debra, Denise Grote and her partner Mark and Douglas Thayer; grandchildren, Brandi, Sheyna, Ryan and Alexandra; great grandchildren, Zane, Dax, Nolan and Landon.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, February 21st, at 11:00 a.m. by the lake at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 85351, (623) 299-8739. Lunch will be served afterwards.
