Michael W. "Mike" Golden, 73, of Munds Park, AZ, passed away on February 5, 2024, at Banner University, Phoenix. Mike was frequently described as larger than life. He loved his boys and grandchildren and always enjoyed time he got to spend with them playing active games. He cared for many others as family members. He enjoyed his time volunteering at Agee’s BBQ in the last 8 years and making knives.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife Angie, his sons Zack and Jake, his daughters-in-law Sarah and Sarah Rose, his grandchildren Brookelyn, Chandler, Conner, Makaela, Kaden, Wyatt, Zayden, Jax, Raelynn, and Kynlee, as well as his great-grandchildren Atlas and Adelaide and his siblings, Susie DeLullo, Nancy Huggler, Jill Golden and Bill Golden. He was preceded in death by his father William Golden, his mother Pam Golden, and his sister Polly (Golden) Lewis.
A veteran who served his country in the Army from 1971 to 1973, Mike's sense of duty was matched only by his sense of adventure. After his military service, he found his passion as a Captain/Paramedic for the City of Mesa Fire Department. Following his retirement, he dedicated his time and expertise to the Pinewood Fire Department, accumulating a remarkable 30-year career in the fire service. Mike loved the outdoors and for years had great adventures with friends and family kayaking, rafting, and hiking. In the past 20 years Mike loved being out in his shop making knives that he sold and gave as gifts. He became a master knifemaker and collector, with a particular love for WW2 knives and the stories behind them.
A celebration of life will be held on May 11, 2024, from 4-6pm at Agees BBQ in Munds Park, AZ. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saving Paws Rescue in memory of Mike. To make a donation, please visit https://www.savingpawsrescueaz.org/how-i-can-help/.
