Larry Eugene Sims, 81, of Sun City, Arizona passed away April 26, 2022. Larry was born on August 18, 1940 in Bethany, IL to Charles and Edith (Moon) Sims. He was proceeded in death by his parents and sisters Dorothy Christy and Betty Jones. Larry is survived by his loving wife Cindy; his daughters Stacey Millard (Garry), Christy Jaye (Jim) and stepson Chris Anderson. Also, by grandchildren Alisha Riddle (Graham), Tyler Jaye (Sera), Justin Millard, Jacob Jaye, Nate Jaye (Ali), Jorja and Jayla Millard, great-granddaughters Emmy and Brynn Riddile and Sunny Jaye, all of whom he loved very much. Larry is also survived by his sister Jackie Wimmer (Dave) and Bill Sims (Linda) along with many nephews and nieces.
Larry came from a homebuilding heritage and worked in the industry his whole life. He started by working construction and went on to study building construction technology at Bradley University. After moving to Arizona in 1962 he contributed to the building trade, development and expansion of the Phoenix-Scottsdale area for his entire career. His employers included Flynn Steel Buildings, Hallcraft Homes and Golden Heritage Homes.
Although homebuilding was his profession, his focus was on his faith, his family and his friends. He was very active in his church and Alongside Ministries. He adored his family and was always looking for an opportunity to brag about them. He was a faithful friend to many and blessed them all with his witty and heart-felt letters.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 1:00pm at the First Christian Church, 6750 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix, AZ.
